Concept Art

About the workshop:
The aim of the workshop is to engage participants in creating fun artworks, while letting their imagination and spontaneity guide them rather than a thorough thinking process and preparations.
Participants will write down different things on small papers (era, country, famous character, ..), and then randomly pick 3 papers, research them, and create a character and a background according to the descriptions they get.
Workshop requirements:

- Laptops and drawing tablets, and sketchbooks and pens
Shaping Ideas
Alexander Gratzer

About the workshop:
In this workshop Alexander Gratzer offers exercises in creating one's own artistic work in the fields of animation, drawing and writing.
At the beginning there is usually the question: How do I come up with an idea that excites me and that I want to work on further? In 3-4 steps, participants get an insight into creative writing and drawing methods to turn a small idea into a wonderful story.
Workshop requirements:
No prerequired knowledge or skills, you just need to be interested in art and filmmaking!

This workshop happens over two continuous days:

About the workshop:
The aim of the workshop is to engage participants in creating fun animations, while letting their imagination and spontaneity guide them rather than a thorough thinking process and preparations.
Participants will create togethe a "Have Fun Trying" animation, focusing essentially on keyframes, breakdowns and paths of motion.
Workshop requirements:
- Drawing skills, ability to use Photoshop
- Laptops and drawing tablets, with Adobe Photoshop and After Effect installed

About the workshop:
During this workshop you will gain insight into the processes of micro-storyboarding, simple
model-making methods and stop motion animation techniques focusing on non-verbal
character performance – taking inspiration from the Aardman series ‘Very Small Creatures’.

Moving Sculptures: Puppet Making

About the workshop:
This workshop will be an opportunity to make a simple yet unique stop motion puppet. Animation Director Joseph Wallace will bring examples of his own puppets to demonstrate how expressive and emotive characters can be made from simple materials, then it’s your turn. This is a hands-on workshop and will partly be driven by what objects you bring with you on the day. Find a list of suggested items below, but don’t be intimidated, bring as much or as little as you have and we’ll play on the day!
Workshop requirements:
- Try and find a handful of found-objects that you might want to incorporate into your puppet. It could be something you’ve found on the street, in a drawer at home, in a park or in a junk shop. Something small that could be interesting to work into the puppet. Suggestions not limited to: twigs, washers, bits of rubber or wood, natural forms, pine cones, a plastic ball, doll’s head, beads, driftwood, string, scraps of fabric, bottle caps, bits of plastic, metal pieces; generally small interesting-looking stuff!
- If you have any of the following, please bring them along with you: Wire snips, pliers, scalpel knife, craft knife, drill, small drill bits, vice or clamps, hacksaw, glue gun, glue sticks, contact adhesive glue, cutting mat, newspaper, masking tape, mini file, paintbrushes

About the workshop:
Working in pairs, participants will devise and produce a short-animated sequence focusing on the essential production processes used to create believable character animation – filled with
thought and emotion.
Workshop requirements:
- Good understanding of character animation and related skills
- Each participant will be required to bring / make a simple puppet that they will animate during the workshop. Limited materials will be available to make a simple puppet if needed.
- All participants will work in pairs – which will be arranged at the start of the workshop.
- All participants are required to have smart phones with the mobile app STOP MOTION STUDIO downloaded and installed
- Participants will be asked to record reference material on their phone for the purposes of analysing and understanding motion.

About the workshop:
In this workshop Amir will take us in an intimate journey through the whole process of composing music for films, navigating feels, emotions and inspirations to write music that tells the story, taking Kizazi Moto - Stardust as an example.

- No musical experience or background is required at all
- Name 3 of your favorite films, and 3 of your favorite music composers in the form
Write to Pitch

About the workshop:
In a writers room brainstorm session, this workshop will be centered around writing within the development stage for people who have concepts or are developing concepts/pitches and looking for some practical feedback on development pitches, development writing and pitching itself
Focus points in th workshop would be: creating worlds from characters, authentic story/character development with global reach, pitching, and breaking down a story and characters for pitching (pitch deck writing vs verbal pitch)
